The walls went up the day we split
I had to save what was left of me
I didn’t have the tools or the village to rebuild
Didn’t have the strength to extend my hand
Nor the hope that I’d find you reaching back
I was left with nothing but the muck
The self blame, the self disgust…the shame
So I used it for protection and shelter
I built higher than I could see
Praying…
