Dark Poetry

Black background. White line drawing at top of heart shaped balloons, pennants, and streamers. White line drawing at bottom of presents. White text: 34

It’s been thirty years
Since I died
Three decades of surviving
Twenty-Nine years of waiting to fail
Twenty-two since I first played my hand

Thirty years wasted
On what?
Forcing smiles and laughs
Achieving meaningless accolades,
Hitting milestones, breaking cycles

In thirty-four years
I have lived many lives
Broken apart
And put back together
Countless times

Now here I am
With more to prove
And no more to accomplish
No goals for recognition
Nothing I can produce

Hi! I’m A. Valverde-Galván or AVG. I write dark poetry as a means to heal. I hope my words can serve as a reminder, that we are not alone. That we all deserve to be heard and seen.
